Food service packaging producer Genpak has unveiled its new sustainable moulded fibre packaging line that does not have intentionally added per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).
The company said its refurbished Harvest Fiber line features hinged food service containers, trays, and dinnerware.
Harvest Fiber combines dependable packaging performance and durability with environmental sustainability to satisfy the demands of food restaurant owners.
The containers are said to be microwaveable, made of renewable fibres, do not include any additional PFAS, and work well for both hot and cold food applications.
Additionally, Harvest Fiber is BPI Certified Commercially Compostable and US Department of Agriculture (USDA) BioPreferred.
According to the company, the containers preserve meal integrity and are intrinsically made to address difficulties related to in-house and off-premises restaurant dining.
Genpak said that the products are suitable for restaurants amidst rising laws against PFAS.
Furthermore, the new packaging line is said to offer a useful and cost-effective solution for eateries wishing to introduce environmentally conscious packaging practices.
Founded in 1969, Genpak develops foodservice packaging. Based in Charlotte, North Carolina, the company provides services to a wide range of customers in North America, including quick-service and fast-casual restaurants as well as convenience stores.
In 2019, Genpak collaborated with biodegradable materials producer Danimer Scientific to develop a new range of biodegradable food containers.
Under the agreement, Danimer Scientific agreed to supply several million pounds of biodegradable resins to Genpak. The packaging firm will use these resins to exclusively produce its new GenZero line of food packaging products.
