The producer of films for the packaging sector, SÜDPACK, has begun work on a capacity expansion for the PharmaGuard blister packaging range that it has at its Erolzheim, Germany, logistics site.
The idea is to bring the new facilities on stream within the third quarter of 2027.
The project will witness an addition of new production areas that are dedicated to SÜDPACK Medica’s polypropylene mono-material blister packaging range PharmaGuard, when it comes to solid-dose applications.
It will also have a new unit so as to regranulate plastic waste that is generated at the time of manufacturing.
The output by the German company at its main site located in Ochsenhausen is not going to be sufficient in order to meet the forecasted long-term demand.
The first stage when it comes to the Erolzheim scheme has in it converting a present hall so as to accommodate an ISO 7-classified cleanroom when it comes to GMP-compliant production, which includes a new extrusion line as well as a slitting machine.
Apparently, a separate extension is going to be constructed in order to house the technical infrastructure of the house and also the planned regranulation facility.
Construction work is most likely to be finalized by June 2026.
After that, the installation of the production technology will take place with the commissioning of the new capacity, which is targeted for the third quarter of 2027.
Interestingly, the groundbreaking ceremony for the project was attended by company representatives as well as the local community.
The development is most likely to generate almost 50 new jobs when completely functional, with another 120 positions expected by the end of the decade as part of the later expansion stages.
SÜDPACK went on to describe this project as a very significant step for the family-owned group and also its regional base, in sync with the growth as well as the sustainability agenda, which is pursued by Johannes Remmele along with Carolin Grimbacher, the second-generation managing partners since the business was established in 1964.
Jochen Ackermann, the Erolzheim mayor, went on to state that SÜDPACK consistently demonstrates its robust commitment to Germany as a business location, and that too under challenging economic scenarios. As a successful and forward-looking company and also one of the major employers in the region, it is on its path to creating new jobs.
