Plastic products maker Berry Global has partnered with film converter and producer Printpack to develop new Preserve PE PCR recyclable polyethylene (PE) pouch.
Both firms utilised their expertise in film manufacturing and conversion to create packaging solutions and support increasing customer demand for more sustainable packaging.
The Preserve PE PCR recyclable polyethylene (PE) pouch is How2Recycle pre-qualified and includes 30% FDAโcompliant post-consumer recycled resin (PCR) content.
Berry Globalโs Entourย sealant film technology and the Entour Bold machine direction-oriented print film are both featured on the package. A low seal initiation temperature sealant gives stand-up pouch packaging machinery a large processing window.
To meet these customersโ requests, Berryโs Entour film manufacturing and Printpackโs conversion experience collaborated to create the creative solution.
Berry Global product management director Caleb Triplett said: โIโm proud to collaborate across the plastics value chain to advance the circularity of our products.
โOur goal in developing the Entour family of films is to establish a foundation of products which can be leveraged to expand the sustainable offerings across flexible packaging solutions. Through partnerships such as this, we continue to make strides toward circularity.โ
Through the partnership, the companies offer finished goods in package types such as pre-made pouches, horizontal form fill and seal packaging, and vertical form fill and seal packaging.
The packaging firm said that the pouch can be used for several end-use markets, including dry foods, nutraceuticals, and pet food.
Berry said that the designated packages can be recycled by customers at participating shopsโ in-store recycling drop-off stations.
Printpack Sustainability senior director Dave McLain said: โPrintpack is very excited to collaborate with Berry on delivering a pouch that meets the recyclability and PCR content goals of many of our customers.
โWe are always seeking to minimise those tradeoffs between conventional and more sustainable packaging.โ
Earlier this month, the packagingย firmย collaborated with Cosmos to launch a new range of squeezable tubes for the latterโs Texture Theory brand.
