This innovation is particularly targeted at liquids that are easily damaged, meeting the growing demand for enhanced product safety during dispensing. The Politainer, known for its efficient emptying and space-saving design, now features special fittings and latches that create a seal to keep air out, reducing the risk of contamination and preserving the integrity of contents such as inks, chemicals, medications, and high-end makeup.
The range of politainers, made of a plastic container inside a sturdy cardboard outer, is available in sizes ranging from one to thirty liters. The container closes while the product is being dispensed, ensuring minimal contact with air and near-total emptying. This versatility makes it suitable for a wide variety of products including inks, chemicals, medications, meals, and cosmetics.
Berry Blow-Molding Specialties key account manager Klaus Steinmann noted the increasing demand for closed systems for emptying politainers, especially for products such as flavorings and cosmetics that are now free of preservatives and additives and contain high-value ingredients. In addition to the protection it offers for goods, the closed Politainer system provides significant advantages for the supply chain, reducing plastic weight by up to 75% and enabling eight times as many components to fit on a truckload due to its flat-packed design. This goes on to result in substantial cost savings and a reduced environmental impact.
Berry Global also recently unveiled several new ideas and products, including a partnership with Grillo’s to create spill-proof, easy-to-open pickle jars and the Exclusive Refill, a refillable deodorant stick developed in collaboration with the French natural cosmetics brand La Rosée.
