Flexible packaging and material science company ProAmpac has introduced its recyclable high-barrier fibre technology, ProActive Recyclable FibreSculpt, in Europe.

The fibre-based solution is intended for thermoforming applications. It is said to be suitable for various products, like cooked meats, cold cuts, sliced cheese, and fish. FibreSculpt is lightweight to reduce packaging compared to thermoformed flexible, rigid, or semi-rigid alternatives.

It is designed to maintain the thermoforming line speed and has a higher yield per roll to generate better transportation efficiency and lower changeover times on the filling line.

ProActive Recyclable FibreSculpt has better shelf appeal through its premium feel and natural shelf presence. It contains renewable packaging materials to offer sustainability benefits to customers.

Additionally, the recyclable high-barrier fibre solution is on-pack recycling label (OPRL) compliant and has more than 90% fibre. According to ProAmpac, the solution is kerbside recyclable in the UK and Ireland to support the circular economy.

ProAmpac market manager Ali McNulty said: “ProActive Recyclable FibreSculpt complies with OPRL guidelines and boasts over 90% fibre content.

“This latest innovation underscores ProAmpac’s unwavering commitment to helping brands meet their sustainability goals.” The flexible packaging company supports brands in making sustainable packaging choices while achieving their circular economy objectives.

ProAmpac is owned by Pritzker Private Capital along with management and co-investors. Last month, the firm announced a collaboration with Aptar CSP Technologies to introduce a patent-pending ProActive Intelligence Moisture Protect (MP-1000).

Moisture Protect MP-1000 is a moisture-adsorbing active packaging technology that eliminates the need for desiccant packets. The breakthrough technology is suitable for products that require optimal moisture control, such as point-of-care diagnostic kits, live culture probiotics, and hygroscopic powdery food products.
