Two new grades extend the DuPont™ Surlyn® palette for endless innovation and creativity

For the 30th edition of Luxe Pack Monaco, DuPont launches two new Surlyn® grades, extending further the palette of possibilities for perfume and cosmetics professionals.

Personalization, functionality and uniqueness are key consumer trends in perfumery and cosmetics. It is therefore essential for manufacturers and brands to be able to innovate and differentiate their packaging. New designs have to be attractive and functional, while variations and flankers of existing lines reflect the latest trends and seasons. This demands agility, and ever more versatile materials that can unlock the creativity and inspiration of designers, while ensuring fast and efficient processing. This is why the DuPont™ Surlyn® range – adopted by the industry more than 30 years ago – continues to be an essential component of innovation today with the launch of two new grades:

Surlyn® PC 3000 offers the purest transparency, even for the thickest of parts, with a best-in-class surface quality in one-shot injection moulding applications.
Surlyn® PC 500 is the preferred solution for opaque, coloured and metallised finishes on standard caps, flankers or new creations.

Wider than ever, the Surlyn® palette now encompasses six different grades, each with unique technical, sensory and aesthetic properties. This versatility offers an inexhaustible source of inspiration for designers and brands, allowing the most innovative creations to be realised through an easy, fast and effective process using one single mould for all variations.

The use of Surlyn® allows for many different decoration techniques – including lacquering, hot stamping, silkscreen and pad printing – for coloured, varnished, metallic or even glitter finishes. Surlyn® is also well-known for being used in the over-moulding of textiles or materials, and encapsulating objects, hence protecting and beautifying for optimum effect.

As noted by Maria Carcolé, EMEA Marketing Leader Perfumes & Cosmetics at DuPont, “Using Surlyn® makes it possible to support a product well beyond its launch, giving brands the space for constant reinterpretation, while retaining the very essence and identity of the product. Our technical and commercial team works closely with brands and moulders to help them choose the best Surlyn® solution and give shape to their varied design dreams.”

The palette of possibilities offered by Surlyn® will be presented at Luxe Pack Monaco, from the 2nd to 4th October 2017.
