Nefab has moved to deepen its presence in Central Europe through the acquisition of Vallos, a Slovakia-based specialist in corrugated and complete packaging solutions. The transaction expands the group’s manufacturing footprint in the region while strengthening its fibre-based packaging capabilities, positioning the business to respond to evolving industrial demand for lighter, lower-emission, and locally sourced packaging formats. This Nefab corrugated expansion reflects a broader shift in customer requirements as supply chains grow more complex and sustainability considerations gain priority.
With more than 30 years of operational experience, Vallos brings established expertise in corrugated formats and integrated packaging systems. Its portfolio complements Nefab’s existing industrial packaging platform, particularly in sectors such as lithium-ion batteries, datacom, and energy. In these segments, packaging is increasingly defined by a balance of product protection, handling efficiency, regulatory compliance, and transport cost optimisation. Corrugated and other fibre-based materials have therefore gained traction as manufacturers seek alternatives to heavier, material-intensive options without compromising performance across logistics networks.
Beyond increasing local capacity, the acquisition enhances Nefab’s ability to deliver complete packaging solutions that integrate engineering design, materials selection, and logistics efficiency. Slovakia’s growing relevance as a European manufacturing hub further strengthens the strategic rationale, giving the company additional production and design resources aligned with regional demand. The move reinforces Nefab’s approach of linking packaging development to broader supply chain functions, including transport utilisation, warehousing, and handling, rather than treating packaging as a standalone commodity.
Commenting on the development, Per Öhagen, president and CEO of Nefab Group, said: “Our broader market presence and range of sustainable solutions will enable us to provide even greater value to our customers.” The Nefab corrugated expansion highlights a continuing trend in the packaging sector, where acquisitions are increasingly driven by the need for technical depth and supply chain integration. For industries such as battery systems, datacom hardware, and energy equipment, packaging now plays a critical role in damage prevention, cube efficiency, export readiness, and carbon accountability.
