Flügger and Amcor have introduced a collaborative innovation in paint packaging, a container made with 50% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic, cutting reliance on virgin plastic.

This new pack demonstrates Flügger’s commitment to reducing the use of virgin plastics in packaging without compromising product quality and user experience. The blue tone of the pack was specifically created to reflect Flügger’s brand identity. The Flügger and Amcor packaging solution meets the requirements of several voluntary labelling schemes, such as the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, used across Scandinavian markets.

Flügger has already integrated this design across its paint range, making it available to both professionals and private users. Casper Paggio Hansson Felt, communications & culture manager at Flügger, noted, “We wanted a solution that delivered on quality and visual appeal, while also being made with recycled materials. Using 50% PCR was a natural choice — it’s a proven packaging solution that we already use for other products, developed in collaboration with Amcor, and it helps us meet the requirements of our eco-labeling schemes.”

Apart from the sustainability advantages, the packaging also supports customer experience and brand differentiation. The familiar blue container, accompanied by lids in varying colors, facilitates the identification of paint types speedily and conveniently. “Feedback from both consumers and our retail partners has been overwhelmingly positive — especially in terms of the color,” said Casper Paggio Hansson Felt. “The blue container is visually appealing and the lids in different colors help users quickly identify the right type of paint, which adds practical value, especially for our professional customers.”

The Flügger and Amcor packaging solution is the outcome of a long-term partnership. “It made a real difference that Amcor understood our needs and could deliver a high-quality solution,” said Casper Paggio Hansson Felt. “That’s why they were the right partner for this transition.”

The solution was first introduced in autumn 2024 and has since been rolled out across Flügger’s markets in Europe and Asia.
