Sealed Air has introduced ZeroPrep, a hand-dispensing pouch system designed to streamline condiment handling in restaurant back-of-house operations. The pre-filled pouch format targets the routine but time-consuming tasks associated with preparing, filling, and cleaning squeeze bottles and rigid containers during service shifts.
Each ZeroPrep condiment pouch features an easy-open seal and a purpose-built spout that enables sauces and condiments to be dispensed through simple hand pressure. The spout reseals between uses to minimise dripping, and the pouches remain hermetically sealed until first use, supporting consistent hygiene standards.
The design eliminates the need to transfer condiments into secondary containers such as squeeze bottles. This approach is intended to reduce the risk of contamination during food preparation and service. Staff can operate the pouches without any tools, and the format also supports one-handed dispensing, making it practical for fast-paced kitchen environments. The compact structure additionally allows for more efficient storage in limited back-of-house spaces.
Product Yield and Freshness Performance
Sealed Air states that the system can deliver a product yield of up to 97%, helping to reduce waste during service. The format is also designed to help maintain freshness and flavour consistency throughout the duration of a shift.
CRYOVAC Brand Equipment Behind the System
The ZeroPrep condiment pouches are manufactured using Sealed Air’s new CRYOVAC brand ZeroPrep vertical form-fill-seal system. The equipment combines two CRYOVAC films to create the pouch structure, incorporating the easy-open seal, semi-rigid spout, and hermetic sealing in a single production process.
The ZeroPrep vertical form-fill-seal machine produces packs ranging in size from 8 fl oz to 16 fl oz and is capable of operating at speeds of up to 80 packs per minute, making it suited to high-volume condiment production requirements.
Sealed Air North America food vice-president Joe Lambert said: “We listen closely to customers to develop solutions that address everyday challenges and create meaningful value. ZeroPrep reflects this ongoing commitment by removing the tedious task of squeeze bottle prep and cleaning, helping restaurants improve efficiency and the employee experience while supporting food safety.”
Separately, Sealed Air recently expanded its packaging equipment portfolio with the addition of the SEALED AIR brand ProPad Mini, a paper cushioning machine aimed at fulfilment sites operating with limited pack station space. The machine is designed to fit into smaller working areas while providing on-demand paper cushioning during the packing process.
