KRAKOW, POLAND and WAYNE, PENNSYLVANIA – CANPACK Group, Inc., a global sustainable packaging manufacturer, broke ground on a new greenfield Beverage Can plant investment in Uttar Pradesh, India. This will be CANPACK’s third beverage can plant in India, joining beverage can plant locations in Aurangabad (where CANPACK also has a glass bottle manufacturing plant) and Nuh. This new project involves an investment estimated at $150M (INR 13 billion) and will be located on 60 acres of land in the newly-established Integrated Manufacturing Logistics Cluster (IMLC).

The groundbreaking opening of the site took place as part of the launch of the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Growth and Rural Enterprise Ecosystem Strengthening (UP – AGREES) Project. The ceremony was led by Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, and joined by state officials, including Nandagopal Gupta, Industry Minister & Export Promotion, and Manoj Kumar Singh, Chief Secretary. During the event, a symbolic cornerstone laying ceremony for the construction of the factory was held, which was attended by Peter Giorgi, President and CEO of Giorgi Global Holdings, Inc., owner of the CANPACK Group, along with CANPACK’s leadership members: Małgorzata Podrecka, Vice President of the CANPACK Group, and Vikram Potdar, General Manager of CANPACK India and Regional Director for Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. The ceremonies also saw the participation of Dr. Piotr Świtalski, acting Chargé d’affaires a.i. at the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi.

“We are proud to bring to Uttar Pradesh (India) a new, state-of-the-art manufacturing facility producing aluminum beverage cans, which once finalized will be CANPACK’s third beverage can production plant in India,” said Peter Giorgi, President and CEO of Giorgi Global Holdings, owner of CANPACK Group.

“This investment represents not only our commitment to growing our company globally, but also our confidence in the great continuing business potential, excellent customers, and dedicated employees in India.

We appreciate the warm welcome and support of the Uttar Pradesh Government and look forward to working together to create long-lasting value for the community, and the industries we serve,” added Mr. Giorgi.

CANPACK India has been part of the CANPCK Group since 2009, when the first can plant was opened in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, followed by a glass bottle plant  in 2013 in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, and another can plant in 2018 (Nuh, Haryana). CANPACK India is well-recognized and awarded for its focus on business growth, customer service, innovation and its numerous CSR projects across various states in India.

“CANPACK India truly appreciate the trust reposed by CANPACK Group to grow the business in India. The total beverage can market in India is relatively small compared to other countries but has been growing in double digits due to the preferences of younger generations and innovations in the beverage  industry,” said Vikram Potdar, Chief Executive Officer India, Regional Director Asia, Middle East and Africa.
