Finnish food corporation Fazer Group has announced the launch of new oat snacks under its Fazer Aito and Fazer Yosa brands and a switch to more sustainable carton packaging.

The all-new Fazer Aito Oat Dessert will be available in two variants: Mango and Raspberry. The ‘soft, rich’ pudding is produced in Finland from Finnish oats and is suitable for those following a vegan diet.

The introduction of the oat-based dessert follows the acquisition of oat brand Kaslink Aito by Fazer in 2019 and its subsequent rebranding as Fazer Aito.

The Fazer Yosa oat snack portfolio will be strengthened with two new variants: Fazer Yosa Protein Blueberry, which joins the newly-renamed Fazer Yosa Protein range, and Fazer Yosa Oat Snack Mango.

Protein Blueberry is a dairy-free spoonable oat snack, which contains 5g of protein per 100g – derived from oat, potato and peas.

Fazer’s fruity new mango snack gets its rich flavour and consistency from fermentation, and is available in 150g and 400g formats.

According to Fazer, the expansion of its range also coincides with ‘a packaging renewal’, which, beginning in May, will eventually see all Aito and Yosa oat snacks being packed into a more sustainable carton packaging. This switch will, according to Fazer, save 52–73% plastic per product depending on the size and type of the packaging.

“The demand for plant-based snack products increases constantly,” said Susanna Kallio, brand and category director at Fazer Lifestyle Foods.

“According to a study we have had made, 26% of Finnish consumers wish for more options for plant-based snack products and 24% are asking for a wider selection of plant-based desserts.

“Consumers are interested both in flavours of Nordic berries and exotic fruits. With these novelties we answer consumers’ wishes.”

All Fazer’s new products will become available during May 2020.
