Italian confectionery company Ferrero Group has announced a commitment to make all its packaging 100% reusable, recyclable or compostable by 2025 in its 10th Corporate Social Responsibility Report.
Ferrero said in the report that it will implement research and development innovations as well as global and local activations to reach its 2025 sustainability goals. These include โreimagining products and packaging to meet the expectations of todayโs consumers,โ and engaging with its global and local suppliers and partners โto streamline definitions and testing methodologies for existing infrastructuresโ.
Ferrero Group CEO Lapo Civiletti said: โWe have growth ambitions and what is key is instilling sustainability throughout our entire business. This new commitment for packaging is an important step to achieving this.โ
Ferrero Group joins Ellen MacArthur Foundationโs circular economy mission
Ferrero also announced that it has signed the Ellen MacArthur Foundationโs New Plastics Economy Global Commitment. The group said that this move shows how it shares the foundationโs vision of a circular economy for plastics โ where plastics never become waste โ and the need for action across the entire supply chain.
