Amcor is supplying Vöslauer Mineralwasser with a tethered closure designed for the brand’s bottle formats, extending an existing collaboration between the two companies. The move reflects ongoing adjustments by beverage producers to meet regulatory requirements while modifying packaging formats used in the market.

The newly introduced tethered closure is structured to open at a wide angle and lock into position, keeping it away from the user’s face during use. It can also be repositioned easily for reclosing. The design aligns with the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive, which requires closures to remain attached to single-use beverage bottles of up to 3 liters. By remaining fixed to the bottle, the tethered closure is intended to reduce the likelihood of caps being discarded separately and to support collection and recycling systems where infrastructure is in place.

We appreciate that our customers have high standards, and our commitment to quality is as evident in our packaging as it is in our mineral and flavored waters, said Mag. Yvonne Haider-Lenz of Vöslauer Mineralwasser. We value our longstanding collaboration with Amcor and the company’s ability to support our ongoing sustainability commitments.

As part of these efforts, Vöslauer had earlier introduced Amcor’s Secure Flip sports cap, which incorporates a non-detachable tamper-evident band retained within the closure after opening. The design replaces detachable tabs and includes a thumb tab that allows one-handed operation, opening to a stable angle of up to 180o.

Closures play a critical role in drinks packaging, protecting the products and ensuring safe and easy access, and in this way can help to influence brand perceptions, said Sarah de la Mare, product line director for closures at Amcor Rigids Packaging Solutions International. We are delighted to work with Vöslauer in the continuing development of innovative solutions that support both their product and sustainability goals.
