Amcor, a global leader in developing and producing responsible packaging solutions, has announced the launch of AmSecure™ thermoformed trays and rollstock as part of its HealthCare™ portfolio. The new AmSecure™ line is a next-generation packaging innovation tailored to meet the demanding requirements of the healthcare industry. It provides a cheaper alternative to other materials while still matching their performance standards. The change also helps streamline supply chain operations, cutting costs without affecting quality.
The new solution uses an APET formulation that keeps the same clarity, durability, and sterilization compatibility found in PETG. By moving to APET, Amcor has developed a packaging material that’s both sustainable and cost-effective, yet still meets the strict demands of medical and pharmaceutical use. AmSecure™ keeps its form under pressure and works with all common sterilization processes, making it a practical fit for many healthcare applications.
Beyond performance, AmSecure™ is designed to work with multiple approved raw material options, strengthening supply chain flexibility. This setup helps maintain consistent supply and long-term reliability for healthcare manufacturers that depend on steady packaging availability.
According to Art Castro, vice president of Amcor Flexibles Healthcare in North America, “AmSecure™ represents a significant advancement in healthcare packaging by delivering APET-based thermoformed solutions that match the mechanical and visual performance of PETG, while offering cost efficiency and a path towards recyclability. The Amcor solution meets the critical needs of customers without compromising production and line performance.”
Beyond its performance and economic advantages, AmSecure™ is certified to meet or exceed the voluntary requirements for APR Design® for Recyclability Recognition from the Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR), reinforcing its position as a sustainable choice for healthcare brands looking for responsible solutions.
The launch of AmSecure™ for healthcare packaging shows how Amcor is focusing on both innovation and operational efficiency. This comes after the company boosted thermoforming capacity at its Oshkosh, Wisconsin facility, which allows production to scale up as market demand grows. The AmSecure™ range will also include a full set of compatible lids and pouches, giving healthcare manufacturers a complete packaging solution.
