Mondi, a global leader recognised for advancing sustainable packaging and paper solutions, has launched Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible. This newly developed kraft paper combines strength, extensibility, puncture resistance, and a smooth finish, making it suitable for a broad spectrum of packaging requirements.
By integrating these features, Mondi addresses both the practical demands of protection and the growing need for materials that support high-quality printing and coating.
Positioned between the conventional categories of sack kraft paper and machine-finished kraft grades, Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown kraft paper has been created as a high-performance base for coated or heat-sealable packaging applications. The calendered finish promotes coating coverage and adhesion and smooth texture to produce sharp, consistent print output. This added feature provides a benefit over natural brown alternatives due to their often-rougher surface texture.
The Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown kraft paper was engineered over a three-year period by Mondi’s team of kraft paper specialists, resulting in a material that delivers a rare balance of mechanical strength, resistance to puncture, and surface smoothness. With these qualities, the product is especially suited for form-fill-and-seal (FFS) packaging lines. It meets the challenges of protecting goods with sharper edges or heavier weights, including dry foods, spare parts, building products, and toys.
Made from responsibly sourced fresh fibres, with PEFC or FSC® chain-of-custody certification optionally available, the paper has been tested and confirmed as recyclable within EU paper recycling systems under the CEPI 4EG recyclability evaluation protocol. It is also formatted to operate well within current converting and filling lines, maintaining stable performance and process efficiency.
“Ad/Vantage Smooth Brown Semi Extensible fills a clear gap in the market by combining excellent runnability and high strength with coating-friendly smoothness in one paper. It is, amongst other purposes, ideally suited for use as a base material for our barrier papers, where a uniform, stable surface is essential to achieving consistent coating performance. This paper is the result of a close collaboration between our technical sales service, R&D and product development – a strong team effort that reflects our commitment to solving our customers’ technical and sustainability challenges” said Sabrina Klösch, Technical Sales Service at Mondi.
