Founded in 1984, Jicon is a pharmaceutical processing and packaging equipment manufacturer based in Mumbai. From its Bhiwandi plant in suburban Mumbai, it supplies capital equipment for making tablets, capsules, and ointments to pharma formulation plants.

Karan Hemani, a partner of Jicon Industries, says, โ€œWe are a leading pharmaceutical machine manufacturer in India. Our core products include blister packaging machines for tablets and capsules, capsule filling machines for filling powders in hard gelatin capsules, tube filling machines for gels, ointments, pastes in laminated, aluminum, or plastic tubes. Apart from this, we manufacture ointment mixing units as per the customerโ€™s requirements.โ€

Hemani adds, โ€œWe offer our customers a wide range of machinery. As a manufacturer and supplier of a variety of machines and we aim to offer our customers a one-point contact for their all packaging machinery related needs.โ€

Modern manufacturing plant Jicon claims its modern manufacturing plant located near Mumbai is well equipped with the latest machinery and run by qualified and experienced professionals. Hemani further adds, โ€œThe in-house production and planning systems help us to deliver cost-effective machinery and equipment in a shorter time.โ€

โ€œWe specialize in delivering the whole set of machinery. The consistent quality of our machines has helped us to build trust and get continuous repeat business from our customers. Many of our vendors are still associated with us since development.โ€

Export-led business

A significant portion (70 to 80%) of the companyโ€™s business comes from exports. Hemani proudly says, โ€œWe supply not only to Indian customers but also export to several regions on almost all continents. Our customers are in Kenya, Iran, Nigeria, Philippines, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Bangladesh, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Russia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and in Latin America.โ€

Regulatory compliances

Addressing the major challenges in the pharmaceutical industries, Hemani states, โ€œThe regulatory bodies all over the world are continuously updating their regulatory norms. These new regulations directly affect our machines as we have to keep on updating our machines regularly. Moreover, customers are becoming more demanding. Customers have started asking for more documentation that we generally donโ€™t provide to them. Apart from the basic documentation, they ask for certification of non-contact parts, which is not always possible since not all non-contact parts are tested for materials, only the contact parts undergo testing.โ€

Future vision

โ€œWe are continuously looking forward to growing qualitatively, not only in size. We want to expand our product portfolio to keep meeting our customersโ€™ evolving needs to encourage them to rely on us and stick with us. Moreover, our focus is to expand our manufacturing range so that all our customers remain lifelong customers for us. Currently, we are in primary packaging, but we are keen to push our boundaries to secondary packaging and also to the processing side,โ€ he concludes.
