Europe’s rapidly expanding packaging firm, Zeus Packaging Group, has completed the acquisition of Simpac Limited, the United Kingdom’s longest-established paper sack and packaging producer. With over a hundred years of expertise, Simpac is widely recognised for its commitment to sustainable packaging innovation.

Established in 1903, Simpac is a long-standing fiber-based packaging specialist with bespoke paper sacks, branded food wraps, carrier bags, and eco-friendly e-commerce mailers supplied to the UK’s leading supermarkets, food manufacturers, and agricultural producers. It has its operations in Hull and Glasgow and employs over 130 staff. With revenues of more than £30 million annually, Simpac’s focus on innovation and sustainability has been repeatedly honoured at the UK Packaging Awards.

Innovation has long been central to Simpac’s operations. The firm created the Good-e™ eco mail bag, a recyclable option to conventional plastic mailers, and introduced the Deliver-e™ Lift Liner, a patented product for food retail home delivery and Click & Collect. Aside from these, Simpac has invested heavily in tamper-evident liners, store-brand retail bags, and recyclable food wraps such as baking foil, clingfilm, and parchment. Its paper sack expertise also serves the agriculture industry with breathable packaging for root vegetables and durable sacks for animal feed and farm supplies, showing flexibility among several industries.

The acquisition by Zeus Packaging Group provides customers from both companies with the advantage of complementary strengths. Zeus clients gain access to Simpac’s specialised manufacturing expertise and next-generation sustainable products. Meanwhile, Simpac customers can leverage Zeus’s extensive European supply chain, global procurement capacity, and advanced manufacturing capabilities in corrugated packaging, film extrusion, tapes and labels, and retail bag production. Together, the combined entity offers one of Europe’s most comprehensive packaging portfolios, delivering greater choice, enhanced sustainability, and improved economies of scale across retail, e-commerce, food, industrial, and agricultural markets.

Brian O’Sullivan, Owner & Founder of Zeus Packaging Group, said: “Simpac has a proven track record of innovation, from its Good-e™ mailers to the Paper Lift Liner that is already transforming food retail delivery. Their expertise in sacks, wraps, and branded packaging perfectly complements our wider capabilities in retail, e-commerce, industrial, food, and agricultural packaging. We see major synergies for our combined customers and clear opportunities to invest in innovative sustainable packaging solutions that together create a comprehensive offer unmatched in the market.”

Sandy Bole, Managing Director of Simpac, added: “For over a century, Simpac has been trusted by retailers, producers, and distributors to deliver high-quality packaging solutions. Our focus has always been on innovation — whether in branded food wraps, sustainable mailers, or productivity-enhancing technologies like the Paper Lift Liner. By joining Zeus, we now have the platform, scale, and resources to accelerate these innovations, expand our international reach, and deliver even more value to our combined customers.”
