Shell Polymers has teamed up with ISOFlex, a division of Sigma Plastics Group, to bring ISCC PLUS–certified circular polyethylene into the food-grade flexible packaging sector. The commercial collaboration will be showcased at Pack Expo 2025, scheduled from 29 September to 1 October at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Nevada.
Under the agreement for circular food packaging, ISOFlex will incorporate the certified circular material into its packaging films, supporting its sustainability targets while preserving high-performance standards. Shell Polymers will supply the material from its Monaca, Pennsylvania facility. The polyethylene resin comes with ISCC PLUS certification, confirming that its circular food packaging properties are maintained through a fully traceable chain of custody.
Ryan Siegfried, global marketing manager at Shell Polymers, commented: “This collaboration underscores Shell Polymers’ ability to meet the real-world demands of converters seeking circular solutions, including certified circular resin. Our ISCC PLUS certified materials help customers like ISOFlex deliver traceable and functional solutions that make it possible for more end markets to access recycled plastic.”
David McKinney, president of Sigma Plastics Group’s ISOFlex division, added: “This partnership demonstrates how Shell Polymers’ certified circular solutions support our customers in achieving their goals in both performance and sustainability. By working with Shell, we’re able to maintain reliable functionality while also delivering an innovative solution that meets customer expectations.”
In a related development, Shell Pakistan Limited (SPL) launched Pakistan’s first recycled plastic retail site in July 2024. The Malik service station on Shahrah-e-Faisal in Karachi was established in collaboration with Dabeer Hemani and Syed Ali Naqi, cofounders of the product research and development company Concept Loop.
