Avantium N.V., a leading name in renewable and circular polymer materials, has entered a capacity reservation deal with global packaging producer Logoplaste Consultores Tรฉcnicos, SA. for its plant-based, recyclable polymer PEF (polyethylene furanoate), marketed under the name releaf. The two companies have been working closely as strategic partners within the Bottle Collective, a consortium dedicated to advancing recyclable fiber-based bottles. This latest agreement reinforces their collaboration and broadens their joint focus to include high-performance packaging solutions that go beyond fiber bottles, extending into Logoplasteโs primary markets across beverages, food, pharmaceuticals, home care and personal care.
Logoplaste, well known for its skill in injection and blow molding, produces sturdy, high-quality packaging that balances performance with sustainability. Its technical strengths in barrier technology and material innovation complement Avantiumโs work with releaf, a polymer engineered for circular, high-performance packaging. As part of the Bottle Collective, which includes major brand owners such as Diageo, Opella (formerly Sanofi), and Haleon, Logoplaste and Avantium have already made strides in recyclable, fiber-based packaging innovation. The new agreement aims to accelerate Logoplasteโs development pipeline and expand the use of releaf materials beyond the consortiumโs fiber bottle initiative.
Under the capacity reservation deal, Logoplaste will secure future volumes of releaf from licensed facilities using Avantiumโs proprietary YXY Technology for releaf production. This step supports the companyโs ongoing innovation in releaf-based packaging and anticipates growing demand once product validation is complete.
Paulo Correia, Chief Technology Officer at Logoplaste, stated: โThis agreement is a testament to our shared commitment to driving innovation in sustainable packaging. By securing future volumes of Avantiumโs releafยฎ, we are able to accelerate the development of advanced packaging solutions with outstanding barrier properties, supporting our customersโ ambitions for circularity and performance across a wide range of applications.โ
Bineke Posthumus, Director Business Development at Avantium, added: โWe are excited to deepen our collaboration with Logoplaste as a strategic partner. The capacity reservation agreement reflects the growing momentum behind releafยฎ as a key material for next-generation, high-performance packaging. Together, we are paving the way for scalable solutions that combine renewable materials with outstanding functionality.โ
