Low-Migration Ink Technologies Supporting Safer Food and Pharma Packaging

Low-migration ink technologies have become indispensable for food and pharmaceutical packaging where even trace contamination can compromise safety and regulatory compliance. By engineering ink systems with carefully selected raw materials, functional barriers, and controlled curing processes, converters can meet stringent migration limits without sacrificing print quality. Understanding the regulatory landscape, substrate interactions, and press-side best practices is essential for successfully implementing low-migration inks at scale.

Syntegon, the packaging and processing technology specialist, has officially gone on to reinforce its commitment toward the food industry through opening a new assembly hall when it comes to its Food Horizontal business based at its Remshalden site, which is nearby Stuttgart and hence widen its food packaging market capacity.

The inauguration ceremony, which was held on November 26, 2025, goes on to mark quite a prominent step toward the modernization of the site and also underlines the strategy of Syntegon to expand its food packaging market capacity. The market for food packaging as we all are aware is growing by the day.

The CEO of Syntegon, Torsten Türling, states that this project can surely be termed as a robust symbol of their momentum that has been seen in recent years. It demonstrates that their strategy meets customer requirements and is also delivering. Due to this new assembly hall, they are going ahead and creating the foundation so as to scale the technological innovation, broaden the production for their food customers, and also offer their employees a modern as well as a future-ready work environment.

Notably, the investment directly goes on to address the fast-growing demand for solutions that are offered by Syntegon. Apparently, the Remshalden site, which focuses on horizontal food packaging, has also witnessed sales almost double since 2022, therefore placing quite a significant amount of strain on the present infrastructure.

The new facility goes on to add 1,200 square meters of contiguous assembly area, which is the largest at the site and which will significantly elevate the capacities. This extra space is especially very critical so as to handle complex and end-to-end line projects, which, by the way, is a core element of the holistic line-solution approach of the Food Horizontal business, which apparently integrates advanced secondary as well as end-of-line technologies. The new hall also creates a space for around 25 employees.

The executive vice president for Food Horizontal, Bruno Oberle, stressed the significance of the almost four-million-euro investment, stating that this investment indeed goes on to reflect their confidence in the market, in their strategy, and majorly in their people.

The construction of the new facility got completed in just more than a year – as a matter of fact, finishing six weeks ahead of schedule all thanks to the robust collaboration between Syntegon as well as FP die Generalplaner and APS Bau, its project partners.

Besides this, the new building also supports the environmental objectives of Syntegon by way of featuring a photovoltaic system that was installed across the entire roof in order to upgrade the sustainability endeavors of the company.

When it comes to food and beverage professionals, this expansion does signal the reinforced position of Syntegon as a technology leader and also a strategic partner, thereby promising growing capacity when it comes to large-scale packaging line solutions that are quite critical for optimizing the modern food production functionality.
