Fresh Del Monte, a global producer, marketer, and distributor of fresh fruits and vegetables, has reached an agreement to sell key assets of its Mann Packing business to Church Brothers Farms, a family-run company based in Salinas, California.

Under the deal, Church Brothers Farms will take over Mann Packing’s advanced processing plant in Gonzales, California. The expansion extends the company’s footprint in both foodservice and retail, positioning it as a complete supplier that emphasizes consistency, quality, and convenience.

“This transition marks a pivotal step in our growth journey, reinforcing our commitment to category leadership and accelerating our strategic expansion into retail,” said Brian Church, Church Brothers Farms Chief Executive Officer.

For both sides, the deal is a step forward, built around their core strengths and a shared aim to push innovation across the fresh produce industry.

“This transaction allows us to concentrate fully on our core products and higher-margin, value-added segments,” said Mohammad Abu-Ghazaleh, Fresh Del Monte’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. He said the move reflects the company’s steady focus on growth and creating long-term value for shareholders, with investments aimed at the areas that will shape its next phase.

The sale fits into Fresh Del Monte’s wider strategy to strengthen its main business and support sustainable growth over time. Mann Packing has long been part of the Fresh Del Monte family, and this handover keeps that legacy alive under a company deeply rooted in the vegetable business.

By focusing more closely on fast-growing fruit and fresh-cut lines, Fresh Del Monte plans to boost efficiency, improve margins, and find new ways to turn leftover materials into added value, cutting waste while making better use of resources.

Both Fresh Del Monte and Church Brothers Farms share complementary expertise and values, and the collaboration is expected to strengthen the overall produce supply chain through improved quality, reliability, and sustainable growth.

“Progress in produce has always come from collaboration and shared purpose,” Abu-Ghazaleh added. “This agreement reinforces that principle—two leaders doubling down on what they do best, creating a more dynamic, customer-focused future for the industry.”
