Koenig & Bauer has officially introduced the CutPRO 2.1 machine, a state-of-the-art flatbed die-cutting solution designed specifically for corrugated board applications. Engineered to handle sheet formats measuring up to 1,300mm ร 2,100mm, the new equipment operates at speeds of as much as 7,000 sheets an hour. Capable of processing materials ranging from solid board to corrugated board, the system supports high-volume packaging manufacturing workflows.
Technical Engineering and Material Handling Upgrades
To support a steady material flow during continuous operation, gripper movements were aligned through proprietary Varioplan and Variolever technology. These mechanical updates, together with modifications to both the delivery and non-stop systems, ensure consistent throughput across processing cycles.
Streamlined Maintenance and Ergonomic Operations
To reduce downtime linked to make-ready and maintenance, the system includes an automatic chain tensioner and revised waste routing inside the die-cutting unit. Furthermore, a dedicated safety feature allows for secure manual movement of the die-cutting unit during adjustment procedures.
Operator experience and facility onboarding have also been simplified. The user interface has been arranged to make onboarding easier for new staff and to shorten training time. Manual tasks have also been made easier, including a system that allows one operator to lift the upper frame safely.
AI-Driven Production Data and Software Connectivity
For live production data review, the CutPRO 2.1 machine is linked to the myKyana software environment. The integration uses AI-supported functions to provide and analyse production data, with the aim of reducing operating errors and enhancing workflow management.
Pilot Deployment and Commercial Outlook
Koenig & Bauer plans to deliver and install the first alpha unit at a pilot customer site before the end of this year. Following delivery, prototype testing will begin in a live production setting to assess the machineโs practical performance and cost-effectiveness.
Addressing operational demands, Koenig & Bauer corrugated director Hannah Potrawa said: โOur customers are under intense pressure to protect their margins while managing the shortage of skilled workers. With the CutPRO 2.1, we deliver more than just theoretical peak output โ we provide a machine that secures true profitability in three-shift operations thanks to its process stability.โ Potrawa added: โThis is our understanding of a true partnership solution.โ
