UPM Adhesive Materials has officially introduced a specialized collection of label materials engineered to integrate seamlessly with standard recycling workflows. Known as the UPM ProCycle range, this new portfolio merges advanced adhesive systems with circular product design. The primary objective is to provide packaging brand owners and converters with transparent, reliable options for labels that hold verified credentials for recyclability. By offering these materials, the company aims to support the industry in meeting increasing demands for sustainable packaging standards.
The current UPM ProCycle selection covers material solutions suitable for rigid high-density polyethylene (HDPE) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET) containers. These are commonly utilized in the home and personal care, food, and beverage sectors. The company states that the integrated adhesive technologies, which include specialized wash-off capabilities, are engineered to ensure that labels and associated components detach effectively during mechanical recycling processes, such as grinding and washing.
These label products are built to maintain print quality while providing stable adhesion across fiber, plastic, and glass packaging formats. External testing has been conducted to confirm that the range meets specific requirements, including the capability for a clean release. According to Suvi Rasa, the manager of circularity and sustainable product design at UPM Adhesive Materials, this portfolio assists brands and converters in navigating evolving recyclability regulations. The company anticipates that this range will continue to expand as future packaging requirements develop.
In a separate development, UPM Adhesive Materials previously announced plans to expand its operational footprint in India. A new distribution and slitting terminal is scheduled to commence operations near New Delhi by the third quarter of 2026. This expansion project is designed to enhance service delivery and support for customers located across Eastern and Northern India.
