Amcor, a global leader in developing and producing responsible packaging solutions, has officially started an expansion project at its flexible packaging solutions facility in Dongguan, China. This initiative includes the construction of a 7,000-square-meter manufacturing facility and an automated warehouse, which will increase the total size of the campus to over 38,000 square meters. The Amcor Dongguan expansion is set to boost production capacity while strengthening supply chain resilience in a major industrial hub in South China. The company expects construction to reach completion by July 2027.

The project is centered on intelligent manufacturing and sustainable packaging principles. The new manufacturing facility will utilize automated solvent-free laminators, high-speed bag-making machines, and automated bag arranging systems. These advanced technologies are designed to improve operational efficiency and support the creation of recycle-ready packaging for food, home, and personal care products. The integration of the automated warehouse will further streamline the logistics and storage of finished goods, ensuring that the facility can handle the increased production capacity effectively. This focus on modernization ensures that the site remains at the forefront of the industry.

Having operated in China for over 30 years, the company currently manages 23 manufacturing sites and two research and development centers. The Amcor Dongguan expansion will further integrate the companyโ€™s manufacturing network to support customers across the Asia Pacific region. This investment underscores the long-term commitment to the Chinese market, where the company has built a robust infrastructure over three decades. Xin She, Vice President and General Manager of Amcor Flexibles China, stated: “China is an important growth market for Amcor, and the Dongguan expansion represents an investment in the technologies and capabilities that will help shape the future of packaging.” She further noted, “We are creating a more efficient and intelligent manufacturing ecosystem that will help our customers grow and meet the needs of millions of consumers every day.”
